Managing Diversity

Legislation formally addresses issues of employment equity and transformation in the workplace.  Alongside EE and the reality of diverse people sharing a working environment enters issues of diversity and stereotypes.  To address the one is to invite the other.

It is a core leadership responsibility to address the challenges and harness the opportunities created by diversity.

The Diversity Climate in the organization is assessed by means of consultations with all the stakeholders as well as an Organizational Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Assessment Tool, followed by:

Diversity Management Workshops

Diversity workshops follow an experiential learning methodology, and will include the following objectives:

Individual Objectives

  • An enhanced awareness within participants of their own diversity, and
  • An increased ability to hold themselves accountable for their thoughts and actions regarding diversity challenges.  A consequence of such awareness and accountability will be
  • Increased transparency as well as increased trust in addressing diversity issues as it arises in the work place.

Organizational Objectives

  • Awareness of the impact of leaders on diversity issues, and
  • Development of leadership styles which meets the challenges of diversity and capture its benefits.
  • Assessment of the impact of current company culture on diversity issues, and
  • Planning for integration of diversity into company policy and procedures.
  • Assessment of the impact of current diversity culture on external stakeholders.
